File specification
What we need from you
Get these right and your job goes straight into production. Get them wrong and we’ll come back to you, which costs everyone a few days.
- Vector files, please.ai, .eps or a high-resolution .pdf. These scale to a 6×3m canopy without falling apart.
- Fonts turned to outlinesIf we don’t have your typeface installed, an un-outlined file will substitute something else and you won’t like it.
- Pantone references specifiedTell us the exact Pantone and we’ll match it. Guess, and we’ll guess too.
- Photoshop elements at 300dpi minimumMeasured at 50% of full size. A logo lifted from a website will look like a logo lifted from a website.
- Up to 100MB through the formAnything bigger, send it by WeTransfer to the same address.
What doesn’t work
- .jpeg logos. They carry compression artefacts and a white box behind them that only shows up once it’s printed two metres wide.
- AI-generated images. They’re low resolution and full of details that fall apart at scale.
- Screenshots or files pulled from a website. Typically 72dpi, which is roughly a quarter of what we need.
- Artwork built to the wrong dimensions. Start from our template and the proportions are handled for you.
Free proofing
What we check before printing
Every file that comes through our door gets looked at by a human before it goes near the press. If something’s going to cause a problem, you’ll hear from us straight away.
Resolution and scale
Whether the artwork holds up at full size, and whether any raster elements will pixelate once they’re three metres across.
Colour and Pantones
That your colours are specified rather than assumed, and that they’re achievable in dye-sublimation on your chosen cloth.
Position and structure
That nothing important lands on a seam, a zip, a leg wrap or the part of the pelmet that folds under and disappears.

Upload your artwork
Send us your files and tell us which product they’re for. One of the design team will look them over and come back with either a thumbs up or exactly what needs changing - usually within one working day.
Only got a logo? That’s fine. Send it and we’ll lay it out for you, free of charge, with up to three visuals to choose from.
Files too big to upload? Send them by WeTransfer to shelter@instantmarquees.co.uk with your company name in the message.

Questions
Before you send anything
How long does artwork approval take?
We usually turn visuals around within one working day. Production runs to a maximum of two weeks from the point you approve the artwork, though this extends considerably through the summer months. If your event has a fixed date, tell us at the start rather than at the end.
How many revisions do I get?
Up to three print-ready visuals, free of charge, on every job. Most customers settle on the first or second. If you need more than three we’ll keep going - we’d rather you were happy than fast.
I don’t have a logo in vector format. What now?
Send us whatever you have and we’ll tell you honestly whether it will print well. In many cases we can redraw a simple logo as vector artwork. If yours is complicated, we’ll say so rather than print something that disappoints you.
Who is responsible if there’s a mistake in the artwork?
We check every file before production and contact you immediately if we spot a problem. That said, where artwork has been supplied by you or your designer, we can’t be held responsible for errors within it - so please check spelling, phone numbers and web addresses carefully before you approve a visual.
Can you match my exact brand colours?
Yes, on every custom print run. Give us the Pantone references and we’ll match them. Bear in mind that dye-sublimation on textile behaves differently to ink on paper, so if a colour is critical, ask us for a swatch before we run the full job.
Can I reuse artwork across different products?
Usually, but not always directly. A canopy, a feather flag and a half-height wall are very different shapes, so a layout that works on one often needs adapting for another. Send us what you have and we’ll adapt it - that’s included in the free design service.
